His first and second phases are alright, but his last fight just sucks. I don't really agree with the common opinion that Alice was a better final boss than Jasper, since her death was a really good setup for the final battle, it's just that Jasper's fight was a big letdown from the anticipation her fought built. The difficulty is significantly lowered, though, and some fights just feel underwhelming and forgettable (like the one against Charlie Macdonald or Cloe Walsh). The soundtrack is also markedly improved over the first game, as well as the voice acting (no more hearing the same death noise for every generic enemy).

The battles against Ryuji and Margaret Moonlight are incredible, and in my opinion, even better than anything we saw in the first game. Really, the bosses are hit-or-miss, but when it hits, it hits. With such an emphasis on bosses, you'd expect them to be even bigger and badder than the first game, but that's kinda only true for some of them. Really, No More Heroes 2 feels like a sauced-up boss rush. It's clear that the developers were worried about the criticisms of the free-roam section in the first game, so they basically tore that entire section out and put an emphasis solely on the boss battles. Other than these jobs, you can do "Revenge Missions", which are kind of boring bread-and-butter free-fight battles where you just go and kill some guys to avenge Bishop. The side jobs that they do include are a small group of 8, 7 of which being based on Famicom games and last one inexplicably just a rehash of the Scorpion game from the first No More Heroes.
#NO MORE HEROES SHINOBU CUTSCENE FOR FREE#
No More Heroes 2 addressed the criticisms of the first game's grinding with the side jobs and assassination missions by making the ranking fights free, and the money only useful for making Travis stronger at the gym, buying clothes from Airport 51, or going to buy new weapons from Naomi (although the best weapon in the game is given to you for free by fucking TAKASHI MIIKE before the fight against Ryuji). I understand why people don't like it as much as the first game, but it just felt wrong rating it any lower. 9h 10m PlayedI've gotta be honest outta the gate say that the main reason I rated NMH2 as high as I did is because of personal bias.
